Ekta Kapoor’s much talked about show, Kahaani Haaaray Mahabharat Ki, will go on air, earlier than the scheduled date. So now viewers can tune in to the epic from July 7 onwards, instead of the earlier schedule of August 15. The show is slated to be a daily and will be aired on prime time from Monday to Thursday.
This change of schedule has taken place because Balaji Telefilms are way ahead of their deadline and have already built up a huge bank of episodes.

Finally, the much-publicised 20-year leap on Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is set to take place tonight at 10:30 pm on Star Plus.

Ekta Kapoor?s hit soap will unveil its fourth generation of the Virani family (left), and channel authorities hope the leap will bring in a fresh loo to the serial. Apart from the older characters greying, the biggest change is the introduction of seven new characters — most important being Krishna Tulsi, to be played by Moni Roy.

Krishna Tulsi will be Tulsi?s heir apparent, rooted to family values and culture. The other new characters include Krishna (Lakshya), son of Sahil and Ganga; Nakul, adapted son of Damini and Gautam; Bhumi, daughter of Tanya and Karan; Ansh’s son Eklavya; Manthan, son of Karan and Tanya; and Joydeep, Sahil’s adopted son.

At the press meet, Rakshanda Khan and Riva Bubber, dressed like Gujarati housewives, were seen playing pranks on the newbies, insisting on them touching the feet of all seniors on the sets. While Balaji Telefilms guards their best kept secret Moni Roy, rediff.com takes a loo at the other characters.

For Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Cezzane Khan’s name Anurag Basu was borrowed from the director Anurag Basu who directed Balaji’s Koshish E Asha and was also involved in the making of the film Kuch To Hai. Nivedita Basu, a character again from Kasauti… was named after the deputy creative director of Balaji while the upcoming show Kayamath has it’s heroine Panchi Bora named Prachi Shah after Balaji actress and danseuse who interestingly also plays the mother of the heroine in the serial.
This phenomenon is not limited to names but also extends to surnames, as in Kahiin Kissi Roz the family shown was called the Sickand family and Sickand happens to be the surname of none other than Sandeep Sickand, the ex-creative head of Balaji and now the Sony head honcho.
Now whether this habit or trend adopted my Ekta Kapoor is a superstition to bring the required luc factor or just a mere co-incidence, is a question that needs to be answered.
